Mail compartment converted to a pair of lavatories and third class compartment, total seating 56, similar to the lower diagram, 2081 no date, 2082 in 1896 when it was also renumbered 2080.

There is no evidence in the carriage registers that either had a first class compartment suggesting it was either short-lived or it didn't happen.

All were built with 4 off 3rd, 1 off 1st, 1 off 2nd, but for a short time 1296 had an additional 2nd class compartment as in the diagram.

Some time before 1912, numbers 7293 and 7297 had slip apparatus fitted.  In the 1912 'Programme of Working of Coaches in Through Trains - Working of Slip Coaches' they are listed as 'Double Ended Slips, which I think is in error.  The slip gear was removed some time before the publication of the 1925 programme.
